This position is located in the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Sandia Field Office, Office of the Assistant Manager for Engineering, The incumbent serves as a General Engineer supporting the Facilities and Infrastructure Team to include: site planning, facility operations, maintenance, project management of minor construction, infrastructure recapitalization program, real estate, disposition, energy conservation and sustainment programs.

Duties

As a General Engineer, you will: Serve as a Subject Matter Expert supporting the Facilities and Projects Team to include: site planning, facility operations, maintenance, project management of minor construction, infrastructure recapitalization program, real estate, disposition, energy conservation and sustainment programs. Develop and validate contractual performance incentives, performance objective criteria, and measurements, in accordance with applicable DOE directives and the specific areas of maintenance, project management and real estate. Resolve critical problems or to develop new approaches or methods often serving as a consultant or project coordinator who provides expert advice and guidance to officials, managers and other engineers, both within or outside the agency.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Applying professional engineering and project management principles and techniques to demonstrate the development, implementation, and management of projects that support an agency's mission and programmatic responsibilities, within nuclear weapon programs. Experience must include the examples listed below. Examples of Qualified Experience: Must Meet 2 out 3 Examples Below: 1. Experience performing duties related to real property management, construction, utilities, disposition, and/or maintenance. 2. Experience overseeing multi-million dollar budgets and contract requirements. 3. Experience communicating with senior ranking officials . Education

801 - Degree: professional engineering. The curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

OR

Combination of education and experience: college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. There are alternate methods to meeting the engineering educational requirement (e.g., holding current professional engineering registration, having passed the EIT examination, or having completed specified academic courses or a related degree).
