Duties

Evaluate contractor performance and serve as a Contracting Officer Representative for operation and maintenance contracts to ensure work is completed to required specifications. Maintain records of all required training for staff and ensure that all required certificates are current to support safety program goals. Contribute to annual budget requests to manage spending within the funding limits to complete the work of the program. Maintain supervisory awareness of hazards, standard violations and deviations from accepted work procedures and practices associated with the maintenance and operation of facilities to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Ensure facility operations comply with Local, State, and Federal public health codes as well as specific instructions and/or specifications to support worker and public safety. Ensure proper care and maintenance of all facility management and operation tools and equipment so they can be operated safely, efficiently and are ready to utilize when needed. Operate and oversee operation of motor vehicles that require a Class B Commercial Driver's License to transport materials or equipment such as a roll-off truck, dump truck, truck and trailer, or similar size and complexity of equipment. Estimate tools, supplies and equipment needs based on facility size, crew size and seasonal fluctuations in weather and visitor use to ensure that work crews or contractors are provided with necessary materials to perform assigned facility maintenance work.

  • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males
  • Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
  • You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
  • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
  • You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
  • Occupancy of government quarters may be authorized .
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required within 6 months of entry on duty.

Qualifications

To qualify, there is no specific length of training or experience required; however, your resume must demonstrate enough experience to show your ability to perform the duties of a Maintenance Worker Supervisor (MVO) without more than normal supervision. Examples of such experience include: (1) overseeing the operations of facility and maintenance functions including custodial operations, recycling collection operations and general building maintenance; (2) evaluating employees against established performance standard and recommending the selection, promotion, or disciplinary action of individuals; (3) writing work plans and scopes of work including the completion of cost estimates for a variety of trade such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC maintenance, and labor and custodial work; (4) evaluating contractor performance and serving as the contracting officer's representative for multiple ongoing Operations and Maintenance contracts involving multi-year custodial services, specialized cleaning contracts, and some minor repair contracts. SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position serves as a back-up for the recycling program, operating a roll-off truck to transport recyclables to the transfer station, and a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required within 6 months of entry on duty.
