This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Use chemical processes to treat surfaces.
Clean, Treat and finish various metals.
Determine plating, coating, or treating procedures.
Test acidic solutions.
Coat a variety of metals.
Check finished work to ensure that requirements have been met.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Pre-employment and Annual physical is required.
- Required to wear protective clothing and equipment including rubber gloves, aprons, rubber boots and face shield or respirator.
- Appointment may be subject to completion of probationary period.
- Handles, stores, and disposes of hazardous material/waste.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electroplating Worker without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties which includes applying surface finishes, prepares parts to be treated/finished, prepares chemical solution or finishing material and metal finishing equipment. I can assist in mixing of solutions, regulating temperatures, or testing solutions to determine the proper components. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
