Duties

The selected candidate will play a key role in ensuring visitors have a meaningful experience by serving in a frontline facilities maintenance position at Montezuma Castle National Monument, in Yavapai County, Arizona. However, the candidate should expect to work primarily in the field at either Montezuma Castle, Montezuma Well or Tuzigoot National Monuments as needed. Maintenance Workers are assigned responsibility for daily maintenance operations and repair of physical facilities within the assigned area. The position will work on a variety of facilities including historic structures, water and wastewater utilities, roads, trails, maintained landscapes. The primary responsibilities include: Performing work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings and related fixtures and utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting and other related trades. Performing electrical tasks such as replacing light switches and household light fixtures, changing light bulbs, and assisting electrician when pulling wire in conduit and installing electric boxes. Performing concrete and plaster touch up around existing historic structures. Performing the pretreatment, primary treatment, and secondary treatment of wastewater. Doing extensive testing to determine such things as biochemical oxygen demand, suspended and dissolved solids, and dissolved oxygen. Performing water treatment tests to check items such as pH level, turbidity, and fluoride and chloride content. The incumbent will take measurements add silicates and chemical agents such as, chlorine, fluoride, and manganese into the water system. Ensuring safety rules are followed. Must have a valid State Driver's License. Must be able to obtain a Water Treatment Operators Certificate in Arizona. Incumbent is required to be available on call to respond to emergencies during off duty hours.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials You must possess and maintain a current Water Treatment Operators Certificate, and you must be able to secure and maintain a valid Arizona Department of Health Services Level 1 Water Treatment Operators Certificate. Please indicate the level of certification you currently possess. You must possess and maintain a current Water Distribution Systems Operator, and you must be able to secure and maintain a valid Arizona Department of Health Services Grade 1 Water Distribution Systems Operator. Please indicate the level of certification you currently possess. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. Education

There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.
