Duties
You will acquire situational awareness in order to assess operational mission impact of communications systems outages and degradations affecting afloat and shore commands.
You will provide communications systems (CS) management to all CS entities that support PACFLT maritime operations.
You will conduct thorough analysis of data derived from message reporting, emails, voice reports and web-based tools from diverse organizations.
You will determine whether reports received meet the Commander's Critical Information Requirement (CCIR) written guidelines and make timely notification.
You will use investigative techniques to acquire detailed information, expertly evaluate both operational and technical impact, report to Navy and joint watches, and respond to highly complex technical issues.
You will conduct executive level briefs and summary reporting regarding communication system outages and degradations.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position requires rotating shift work.
- The work performed in primarily sedentary in nature. Some walking, standing, bending and lifting may be required. The day to day work is performed in a watch floor setting.
Qualifications
This position supports the Communications and Information Systems directorate (N6) at U.S. Pacific Fleet Headquarters. Primary tasks include analysis of satellite communication system, computer network, tactical data link degradations and outages onboard US Navy Ships, Submarines, and Aircraft as well as shore-based communication nodes. Candidates must be able to gather technical details of outages and degradations for various systems in order to assess impacts to U.S. Pacific Fleet Operations. Candidates must also be able to think critically about how to best distribute limited available resources to mitigate communications outages and maximize communications resiliency.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying communications concepts, principles, and practices to analyze and respond to communication outages and/or degradations impacting the organization's mission.
