This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This is an Engineering Technician (Civil), GS-0802-09 Target GS-11 position with the Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, E & C Division, with a duty location of Galveston, TX.

Duties
Prepares drawings and portions of design analysis for a variety of civil works projects to include flood control, navigation, coastal and ecosystem restoration.
Drawing preparation is performed utilizing CADD and includes the following: topographic survey plans, grading plans, site layouts, utility plans, cross-sections, details, profiles and alignments.
Conducts site reconnaissance for the purpose of: (a) collecting data on existing, anticipated, or as-constructed conditions, (b) visually analyzing and selecting tentative field locations for specific project features.
Prepares survey request and/or performs detailed small-scale topographic surveys for civil works and environmentally challenging restoration projects.
Prepares quantity estimates, and shares responsibility for technical accuracy of calculations and project features.
Prepares digital terrain models, advanced 3-D surfaces, and templates to determine cross-sectional areas and volumes for quantities.
Requirements

One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Collecting survey data using electronic systems. AND 2) Utilizing Computer Aided Design/Drafting (CADD) equipment for technical and design assignments.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
