You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NUCLEAR) in the Nuclear Test Engineering Division, Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.
Duties
You will provide management control of nuclear engineering work Involved with testing, installation, monitoring, operation, and maintenance of naval vessel propulsion plant systems.
You will act as an authority In resolving problems of a critical and technically complex nature, and as such must have proven performance and experience as a qualified Shift Test Engineer.
You will coordinate with other shipyard organizations to provide the support necessary for the conduct of tests or operations.
You will ensure reactor plant safety by directing performance of the operational test, perceiving errors in the test procedures before authorizing their Implementation, getting the procedures changed or safely securing the test.
You will provide technical direction for a large number of ships force personnel, production shop personnel, and Shift Test Engineers.
You will negotiate agreements where there are conflicting Interests and opinions among organizations having valid concerns and among individuals who are themselves experts in the area of nuclear reactor plant testing and evaluation..
You will assign work, considering needs of the project, workload of employees in the work group, and experience level of employees.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying technical engineering concepts, theories, methods, and principles to perform nuclear testing during key events (e.g., hot ops, cold ops, critical ops).
