About the Position: The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers is comprised of motivated and talented employees providing the very best engineering services for communities in the Pacific Northwest. The District helps manage local water resources for navigation, flood damage reduction, disaster assistance, hydroelectric power generation, and other natural and heritage areas.
Duties
Assist the Commander and Deputy District Engineer for Project Management (DPM) by maintaining relations with Federal, state, and local agencies.
Advise the District Commander regarding congressional interests which impact the District’s mission.
Serve as the Commander’s advisor and liaison to leadership on District administrative policies, monitor policy implementation and compliance.
Develop and maintain contacts and working relationships with Congressional staffs and other governmental and non-governmental organizations that are critical partners.
Arrange conferences and meetings with key partners to foster an atmosphere of cooperation and support.
Plan and direct initiatives to reduce duplication of efforts, increase productivity, and produce savings in the District to include participate in strategic planning.
Applies knowledge of Corps and Department of Army policies and District Commander’s policies and preferences related to the administrative functions and external communications requirements of the District.
Relieves the District Commander, DPM, and Deputy Commander of routine administrative tasks and problems to the maximum extent. Manages Executive Office operations.

GS-13 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which will includes experience 1) Overseeing and/or mentoring personnel; 2) Inquiries from external organizations; 3) Applying, interpreting, and/or developing regulations and/or policies; AND 4) Planning/coordinating organizational functions. (Your resume will explain in what context you performed each of these four tasks at the GS-12 level or higher). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12 or above).
