Employee will be assigned to the Office of the Associate Medical Center Director (AMCD), VA Medical Center, Louisville, KY, providing clerical, administrative, and technical support within the department.
Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Receives visitors and telephone calls to the office, handling problems of a procedural and general nature.
Sets up and maintains files and records for the office.
Prepares forms, memorandums, reports, and other correspondence, ensuring proper grammar, spelling, and format; and prepares and maintains current guidelines and manuals pertinent to the department.
Prepares travel arrangements for staff; and coordinates conferences and meetings, including preparing agendas.
Performs office automation work; schedules meetings; prepares reports; and utilizes various hardware and software in the performance of duties.
Serves as timekeeper for the service.
Maintains calendar for appropriate staff and schedules appointments.
Prepares the agenda for various committees and boards; and prepares meeting minutes.
Follows up on action items to ensure timely response.
Reviews incoming correspondence and prepares responses to letters or forwards as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: receiving visitors and telephone calls to the office; scheduling and managing a calendar of appointments; preparing correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication; serving as a timekeeper; utilizing various computer applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.; and maintaining files.
TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

Physical Requirements: The work is mainly sedentary. Some physical exertion may occasionally be necessary, such as bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting moderately heavy objects such as packages of paper, files, or manuals.
