Duties
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management's (BOEM) Gulf of Mexico Region (GOMR), Office of Leasing and Plans (OLP), reporting directly to the Section Chief in Jefferson, Louisiana.
At the full performance level (GS-6) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Receives, reads, and controls all incoming correspondence, reports, instructions, etc., and screens out those items which can be personally handled or forwarded to other staff.
Receives telephone calls, visitors, and messages and provides general information.
Responsible for maintaining necessary stock of office forms and supplies in a timely manner. Ensures prompt ordering and receipt of required material.
Maintains proper time and attendance records and documentation.
Makes all necessary arrangements for travel, arranging schedules of visits, making housing and transportation reservations, notifying organizations and officials to be visited, and submitting travel vouchers and reports.
Performs queries, including library and other data searches, to assist in compiling and summarizing statistical data related to plans. leasing, or adjudication issues. Performs a variety of administrative data entry, data quality control and report production from various database systems.
Responsible for filing and maintenance of official files and other Section documents. Assures Section files are current, organized, and complete.
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management's (BOEM) has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
This position is included in a bargaining unit. The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), Local 3457, is the exclusive representative of all employees in this bargaining unit.
Salary Information
GS-6:
$42,022 - $54,625 per annum.
First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.
This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.
This vacancy is also announced as BOEM-MMLL-24-AW-007(DEU) for those applicants who wish to apply and be considered under Competitive Examining procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the series/grade to which you are applying.
Specialized Experience
To qualify for the GS-6, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) Preparing correspondence, memoranda, and/or documents for review; 2) Managing, filing, and/or routing memoranda and documents; 3) Maintaining time and attendance records, training and/or travel requests; and 4) Performing database queries to run reports. MUST MEET ALL.
Typing Proficiency: In addition to meeting the qualification requirements for the grade level above, ALL applicants must show possession of 40 words per minute typing speed with three or fewer errors based on a 5-minute sample.
