Salary Range
GS-13: $102,444 - $133,176 pa
GS-14: $121,059 - $157,373 pa
Duties
You will provide timely and accurate information about the Navy Closure Task Force and Navy Region Hawaii (NCTF-RH) organization, missions and functions, and support their relationship with other Navy and DoD components.
You will develop and maintain professional relationships with representatives of local, regional, national and international news media organizations; local, state and federal government leaders; and professional and non-profit organizations.
You will provide public affairs counsel to the Public Affairs/Community Outreach Director, NCTF-RH Commander and other leaders on controversial topics of current media interest, as well as public affairs implications of proposed NCTF-RH actions.
Requirements

- Must be able to provide 24-hour emergency call availability for counsel or meetings with little advanced notice. Urgent requirements may necessitate working beyond the normal hours.
- This work requires routine local travel outside of the office for site surveys, meetings, conferences, and events.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Qualifications
For the GS-13: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Drafting documentation on complex projects to the media to preclude any controversy.
Finding solutions to very difficult problems, and the perseverance to carry out tasks under demanding circumstances.
Presenting, and analyzing potentially controversial issues in a tactful and diplomatic manner, with professionalism and dignity.
Interpreting local political and cultural attitudes, and the ability to work with various groups with different goals and cultural backgrounds to assist in administering human, financial, material and information resources.
Executing an organizational vision which integrates key program goals, priorities, values and other factors.
For the GS-14: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Presenting interviews on complex projects to the media to preclude any controversy.
