You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will develop, update and implement the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and IMF media relations plan to build external support for the shipyard, and to promote work done at the shipyard. You will write/edit news releases, features articles, and photo-caption stories for distribution to various media outlets including the monthly Shipyard Log, command newspapers, service magazines, etc.) You will assume the Deputy's responsibilities, in the absence of the Deputy Director and Community Relations Manager's absence, in the area of emergency management deployment and operations, planning, budget, training and tasking of personnel - (Continued) coordination of multiple information inputs, interaction with high-ranking Navy and state and city/county personnel, intra-staff coordination with Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and IMF department heads and others, - (Continued) and inter-staff coordination with senior representatives of INDOPACOM, PACFLT, SUBPAC, NAVFAC or other military commands. You will fill multiple critical and potentially-deployable Public Affairs Branch (PAB) billets within the Emergency Control Center (ECC), and support training requirements and drills pertaining to these responsibilities, as required.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying analytical methods and interpersonal relations practices to develop media relations plans, write or edit information materials, such as news releases, feature articles, or photo-caption stories, and represent the organization as part of a public affairs program.
