As a Auditor (Performance) at the GS-0511-12, you will be part of OIG Audits Prg, Office of Personnel Management. If selected, you will be responsible for auditing OPM or contractor organizations, programs, activities, information systems, and/or functions to assess compliance with program laws, regulations, and contract provisions.
Duties
Gather evidence in the audit process through inspection, observation, inquiries, and work sample to establish whether an activity is adhering to prescribed regulations, contract provisions, and policies and procedures.
Discuss results of the reviews and any potential recommendations with stakeholders.
Conduct audits in accordance with generally accepted government auditing standards.
Qualifications
All applicants must meet one of the following, as a basic requirement:
A. Degree in Auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.
OR
B. A combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge.AND1. A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination OR2. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting (e.g. 15 semester hours).
For the GS 12: You must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level which includes: 1) using computer assisted audit techniques (CAATS) in the performance of audits; 2) Researching previous audit reports or similar audit assignments to establish an effective and systemic approach to conduct an audit; 3) devising audit approaches as determined by analysis or risk assessments of program areas.
