You will serve as an Administrative Support Assistant in the Resources Dept. Training and Administration -900T, Apprentice Administration - 900T.1 of Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF).

Duties

You will monitor all requests for apprentice and school to work personnel actions. You will oversee and provide technical consultation and advice to all levels of management and apprentices in the procedural and substantive aspects of developing and maintaining the currency of the performance evaluation program. You will maintain statistical data on apprentices for report purposes. You will prepare reports or briefs from the Apprentice Program Administrator (APA) of findings and give recommendations for corrections. You will identify and analyze potential support problems which may impact the Apprentice Program and School to Work Program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing administrative support by reviewing correspondence or reports and identifying administrative issues to ensure the efficiency of a program within a shipyard. Education

In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-07:
-You have successfully completed one full year of graduate education that is directly related to the position
OR
-You have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
