About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. Employees work a 4/10 work week, Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and daily child care available. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center, (Mass transportation is available at minimal cost.) Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.

Duties

Assists the Deployment Director in evaluating project proposals submitted by leadership and evaluates their suitability as Lean Six Sigma projects and makes recommendations to leadership. Plan and direct Lean initiatives and Six Sigma projects to improve the productivity, and effectiveness of the organizations to improve the overall competitiveness of Depot services. Responsible for utilizing quantitative and qualitative methods within the scope of the respective project. Conducts complex organizational business process studies and analysis.

Requirements

• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
• The incumbent must obtain Department of the Army (DA) Green Belt certification within 12 months.
• The incumbent must pass the Army Lean Six Sigma Black Belt exam and receive Army Black Belt candidate status within 24 Months.
• The incumbent must meet all requirements for DA level one (1) certification within 24 months of being placed on the position.
• The incumbent must meet all requirements for DA level one (2) certification within 24 months of being placed on the position.
