This position requires the ability to receive and retain a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI) clearance.

Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for assisting IT specialists in coordinating and delivering IT customer support services, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and/or training. Typical work assignments will include: Providing IT customer support in troubleshooting, recovering, diagnosing, and resolving hardware/software problems in response to reported incidents by customers throughout the organization; Assisting in providing user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications and training including orientation for new users; Using a variety of formats to deliver content using the Intranet, including graphics and multimedia. Please Note: The Help Desk provides on-call IT Specialists to provide coverage on Saturdays to assist with papering in D.C. Superior Court. Once training and experience has reached the necessary level, the incumbent will be placed in the rotation for Saturday coverage. Each IT Specialist may be required to work one Saturday per month. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

To be found qualified at the GS-7 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience are described as providing technical and analytical assistance involving multiple IT specialty areas which support the information management needs of the office; assisting in providing IT customer support in troubleshooting, recovering, diagnosing, and resolving hardware/software problems in response to reported incidents by customers; assisting with the installation, configuration, upgrade and troubleshooting of commonly used hardware/software systems; assisting in providing user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications and training, including orientation for new users. Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. OR you must possess 1 full year of graduate level education in a closely related field (e.g., information technology, computer science, engineering, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management) OR a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks OR completion of a full four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree AND meet one of the following superior academic achievement provisions: (1) a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum or (2) a GPA of 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum or (3) ranking in the upper one-third of the graduating class in a college, university, or major subdivision or (4) membership in a national scholastic honor society. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
