This position is located at The Naval Support Activity Monterey at the historic Hotel Del Monte.
The General Manager will direct and coordinate the activities of the hotel to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations by performing the following duties personally or through direct report supervisors. The ideal candidate is passionate and committed to the business, and manages people to inspire loyalty and maximize performance.
Duties
Engage with individuals/groups and be comfortable in social situations.
Establish and maintain guest service standards that exceed guests' expectations.
Manage guest and community relations.
Monitor financial performance and control costs pursuant to the annual operating budget.
Maximize the revenue generated by each business area.
Participate in community and industry organizations as the primary representative of the hotel.
Manage individual department supervisors that are responsible for the daily operations and profitability of the hotel.
Direct, coordinate, and evaluate these departments.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws.
Interview; hire; train; supervise; plan, assign, and direct work of; appraise performance of; reward; and discipline department supervisors.
Address employee complaints and resolve employee problems.
Requirements
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years experience in a SUPERVISORY position related to lodging/hospitality operation with at least 2 years of management experience at the department level.
Ability to deliver a high level of customer service, builds relationships, and close profitable sales.
Ability to communicate issues and concerns to all levels of the organization as needed.
Ability to provide accurate information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to effectively deal with employees and customers some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information, and resolve conflicts.
Ability to create Front Office reports, business correspondences, emails, and memos.
Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and database tools.
Education
A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Hotel Management or Related field is preferred but may be substituted with lodging experience. The incumbent must have a minimum of 5 years experience in a SUPERVISORY position related to lodging/hospitality operation with at least 2 years of management experience at the department level.
