About the Position: This position serves as Chief, Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP), where the incumbent exercises full authority for management and operation decisions related to the Army Substance Abuse Program located on a large multi-mission military installation.

Duties

Direct the Installation’s Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) non-clinical program. Manage and monitor the installation ASAP non-clinical budget. Maintain clinical and non-clinical ASAP records. Provide appropriate substance abuse prevention education to the serviced population.

• May require a one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with coordinating activities of a substance abuse program; identifying types of referral services for substance abuse or social service programs/services to meet customer needs; provide administrative support for non-clinical programs; and operation of a forensic drug testing program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
