Lead three or more employees in carrying out the main work assignments needed to successfully operate a commissary store. The Lead Store Associate must possess in-depth knowledge of the various work practices, policies, procedures and operations carried out in a full-sized store. The Lead Associate must also possess a practical knowledge of training methods and techniques to be able to instruct lower graded associates in the various commissary duties and responsibilities.

Duties

Distributes and balances workload among employees, assuring timely accomplishment of assigned workload. Monitors the status of work and makes adjustments in accordance with established procedures. Provides on-the-job training in specific tasks and jobs techniques. Recommends changes in work methods to improve timeliness and quality of work. Provides input to supervisor on employee performance, conduct and training needs. Performs work in various areas of the commissary. Requirements

Qualifications

You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 1101 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume (and/or transcript if necessary) must clearly show that you have the qualifications described below. You can use experience, education, superior academic achievement, or a combination of experience and education to qualify. When using education to meet qualifications you must submit transcripts. Experience: One (1) year of demonstrated knowledge of retail procurement and distribution methods; principles, procedures, and techniques of retail food merchandising and retail food store management; and developments in commercial retail food store items, equipment, and practices (specialized experience) equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level. Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Supporting all aspects of the work performed in the various departments of a retail grocery store. Operating an electronic checkout system. Conducting on the job training in specific tasks and job techniques. OR Education: Four full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with major study in business administration, public administration, agricultural economics (food industry management), or other fields related to the position OR Combination of experience and education: A combination of experience and education that equals 100% of the qualification requirements. To compute the percentage of experience and education you have that meets the qualification requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours by 60. Add the two percentages. Additional Requirements that must be met by the closing date: Physical requirements: Frequently lift, push, pull, carry and handle grocery store products weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
