Duties

Assists the Reasonable Accommodation Coordinator (RAC) with advising the Personnel Director, Human Resources, managers/supervisors, and employees concerning reasonable accommodation and identifying architectural barriers to employment of persons with disabilities. Responsible for preparing reasonable accommodation plans and recommendations for corrective action, as necessary, in collaboration with the employee's supervisor and local Human Resource Manager (HRM). Responsible for documenting, tracking, monitoring and acting on reasonable accommodation requests, and assisting with the development of statistical reports in accordance with Executive Order 13164 and Department of Justice (DOJ) guidance. Provides consultative and technical advice to employees and applicants requesting reasonable accommodation and/or disability retirement, as well as to management and executive staff on a continuous basis regarding reasonable accommodation matters and cases. Provides interpretation and instructions on laws, regulations, policies and procedures; issues guidance on reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Graduate education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. GS-12: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for these grade level position. OR Experience: GS-11 and GS-12: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: GS-11: Experience in preparing reasonable accommodation PowerPoint training guides. Experience compiling and analyzing statistical data to prepare reports and evaluate program effectiveness. Experience assisting the Reasonable Accommodation Coordinator (RAC) with advising the Personnel Director, Human Resources, managers/supervisors and employees concerning reasonable accommodation and identifying architectural barriers to employment of persons with disabilities. GS-12: Experience drafting Reasonable Accommodation related correspondence such as requests for clarifying medical documentation, alternate reasonable accommodation solutions, and final dispositions to requests for Reasonable Accommodation. Experience in delivering reasonable accommodation related training to employees at all levels of the Agency.. Experience compiling and analyzing statistical data to prepare reports and evaluate program effectiveness. Experience providing guidance on multiple Reasonable Accommodation related matters and issues in a large organization to managers/supervisors. Experience collaborating independently with Agency personnel (e.g., legal counsel, medical staff and other related parties) to provide guidance on highly sensitive issues to employees at all levels of the Agency. OR Combination of Education and Experience: GS-11 only: Have a combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the qualifications required to perform the major duties of this position as described above. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience.
