This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), in RAS Engineering (TENR), Systems Engineering (TEN), Engineering and Technical Services (TE), Transmission Services (T).
A successful candidate in the Engineering Technician (Electrical) position will serve as a Engineering Technician performing work in engineering design, implementation, engineering standards to support electrical transmission, distribution, control, measurement, utilization projects, systems, and processes.

- Extensive travel up to 100% of the time throughout the northwestern United States may be required.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience in 1) developing high voltage substation electrical drawings using MicroStation Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (including Control & Protection, Data Systems, Remedial Action Schemes, and outdoor layout diagrams) and; 2) developing substation electrical engineering standards, specifications, policies, and guides to support substation engineering projects and; 3) providing technical guidance to engineers, other technicians, and contractors.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Demands: The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, rocky, or slippery surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, climbing, or similar activities; recurring lifting of light to moderately heavy items weighing less than 50 pounds, such as testing or measuring equipment; and/or regular visits to construction, industrial, or other outdoor sites.
Work Environment: The work involves regular and recurring exposure to moderate discomforts such as dust, strong odors, or fumes from fuels, chemicals, or engine exhaust; high levels of noise and vibration, dust, grease, electrical hazards, uncovered moving parts of machinery, moving machinery; and/or outdoor conditions involving moderate exposure to rain, cold/hot weather, icy steams, and rivers. The work environment requires the employee to stay alert continually and to take special safety precautions, including wearing special protective items of clothing.
