You will serve as a FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR in the FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES of COMMANDER NAVY REGION HAWAII. The salary range for positions filled at the GS-07 is $48,567 to $63,137. The salary range for positions filled at the GS-08 is $53,786 to $69,926. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 9.28% will be added to the stated salary. COLA is subject to change at any time.

Duties

You will perform fire prevention functions that include, inspections, investigations, training, scheduling, including formal lectures and practical demonstrations. You will issue permits for hot work and high hazard type of operations and assist in fire protection engineering surveys. You will conduct inspections of Child Development centers, Family Home Care facilities and Youth Centers, in all military installations under the jurisdiction of the Federal Fire Department. You will provide and conduct an information and public education program in all aspects of fire prevention.

  • You must have knowledge of Basic Life Support Functions and Technique's to perform emergency procedures that are noninvasive in nature.

Qualifications

FOR THE GS-08 GRADE LEVEL: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Interpreting and facilitating an effective and comprehensive formal fire prevention services program, through inspections, training, contact with officials and enforcement of fire regulations; 2) Planning directing and facilitating all functional aspects of fixed facility inspections; 3) Teaching home prevention and emergency procedures. (NOTE: Your answer must be supported by information in your resume.) GS-08 GRADE LEVELS: This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Inspector I, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor I, HAZMAT Awareness. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible. FOR THE GS-07 GRADE LEVEL: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in the technical inspection in areas and facilities with special hazards; 2) Inspecting and testing a variety of fire extinguishing and reporting systems with some guidance; 3) Preparing written inspection reports and violations notices for review.
