Duties
You will interpret building plans, blueprints, diagrams, or engineering drawings to identify or troubleshoot problem areas.
You will use electrical construction material (e.g., gauges, wire, conduit, couplers, fittings, relays, electrical boxes, circuit breakers) to complete daily assignments and projects.
You will prepare coating materials (e.g., mixing, thinning, blending, matching, tinting, toning) according to specific oral or written directives.
You will use different kinds of metals (e.g., stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb materials, alloys) for welding, repairing, or installing locks.
You will work independently, make decisions, plan operations, show job responsibility, and exercise initiative.
You will follow general maintenance and operations trade (e.g., plumbing, painting, electrical, mechanical, structural) safety practices and guidelines in completing assignments.
You will observe safety rules to avoid workplace injuries when lifting, climbing, handling materials or equipment, setting scaffolds, or rigging.
You will devise new methods and specialized devices and to modify equipment (e.g. put new ideas into practice, adaptations of old devices, or techniques to new situations).
You will make necessary adjustments to sequences of operations, as in development work like modification or repair of experimental devices; devise manufacture specialized equipment, and adapt standard equipment in order to complete an assigned task.
You will improvise installation work when blueprints and sketches do not provide sufficient information.
You will work without fully developed guides, solving problems and contributing to design completion.
You will adapt shop equipment and practices to unique fabrication problems, as in planning fabrication of testing equipment and prototype models needed for research and development.
You will use mathematics or dimensional requirements and specifications to construct or install parts and materials.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to be forklift, man lift and respirator certified within one year of entry on duty.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position required the ability to lift and carry items 50 lbs. or more.
- You wiill be subject to recall after normal/regular work shift.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to perform a variety of maintenance related tasks requiring the use of special skills associated with electrical work, carpentry, plumbing, and other trades.
