This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Information Technology, (OIT), Enterprise Systems Solution Group (ESSG).
As an IT Specialist (Security) you will provide advanced technical subject matter expertise for the design, architecture, engineering, implementation, and operations of ESSG products, systems, and programs.
Duties
Serve as the senior technical advisor for the security design, implementation, and operations of ESSG systems and cloud services ensuring the operational security program effectively defends against cyber threats and is resilient to cyber-attacks.
Lead and provide direction on security operations on both on-prem and Cloud services in order to advance security monitoring/detection.
Lead, collaborate, and contribute towards advancing both traditional and emerging technology solutions that permits security, business, integration/modernization of existing technology solutions and agency mission to be
accomplished.
Lead teams to implement agile development processes and methods using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery and DevSecOps principles to drive towards predictability and consistency in delivery.
Attend high-level meetings and conferences with or in place of leadership representing the product, program, or system or in areas of expected expertise such as legacy system modernization, Cloud operations and hosting, and DevSecOps transformation.

- This is a remote position; however, the position reports to a CMS Office on a periodic basis. Requirements to report to the office will vary and can be discussed at the time of interview.

In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Providing technical leadership and direction on Cloud security operations and ensuring operational security program effectively defends against cyberthreats and is resilient to cyberattacks; 2) Developing or implementing industry agile software development methods and technologies (e.g., major cloud services, software development frameworks, supporting operational tools, and CI/CD pipeline tools) to support business goals; and 3) Leading efforts around threat modeling, static code analysis, software composition analysis, developer training, penetration testing, or governance activities in the domain of application security.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
