Serves as the MAS Training Coordinator within Medical Administration Service (MAS), which Is the largest administrative department within the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SGVHS). Performs administrative work related to personnel and customer service training, planning/analysis of patient processing programs, special projects and related committee activities

Duties

Major Duties Include (but not limited to): Plans and coordinates orientation activities for each new MAS employee. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates training courses and programs related to MAS to assess their quality and effectiveness. Serves as MAS coordinator for entry and tracking of all employee education and training hours utilizing established computer system software. Responsible for management of patient processing activities associated with VA medical benefit programs (e.g., enrollment, registration, intake, eligibility verification, scheduling, etc). Prepares system policy memorandum drafts, that outline new legislation impacting MAS programs. Uses Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point software to develop training tools and materials. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Telework: Regularly Teleworks 3 + days per pay period (at the discretion of the Supervisor.) Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/11/2023. GS-09 Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. GS-11 Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: GS-09 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Conducts classes or other group-setting instruction. Provides guidance to management and supervisory staff in establishing their internal training programs. Develops and modifies courses, updates training guides, and researches and recommends new or alternative training sources. Utilizes standard business software to develop training tools and materials. Prepares regular education and training reports and distributes to supervisors. OR, GS-09 Education (Transcripts Required): Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LLB. or J.D., if related. OR, GS-09 Combination (Transcripts Required): Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond the first (1st) year of graduate level. GS-11 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Identifies and determines training priorities. Assists employees in achieving mandatory training hours. Provides system-wide training on the functions and use of scheduling programs and software. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates training courses and programs related to MAS to assess their quality and effectiveness. Creates specialized training agendas. OR, GS-11 Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a PhD. or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR, GS-11 Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond at least 1 year (18 semester hours) of graduate level education beyond a Master's or equivalent degree. Note: You must have a combination of specialized experience directly related to the work of the Medical Administrative Specialist (Trainer) position and at least 1 year (18 semester hours) of graduate level education beyond a Master's or equivalent degree.
