This position is located in the Maintenance and Operations Section, Facilities Management Service, Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS), Department of Veterans Affairs.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Mechanical cleaning of boiler tubes, sanitation, cleaning and filter replacement duties on fan coils, ceiling diffusers, light lenses and air handling units, as well as, steam trap maintenance.
Performs fire damper testing, emergency light testing and exit light testing throughout designated areas of the hospital, as well as, exercising valves and testing of eye wash and emergency showers for the Operations Section.
Incumbent has responsibility for Legionella Prevention program efforts conducting water outlet flushing, temperature monitoring, pH testing, and chlorine testing.
Incumbent works from sketches, work orders, basic blueprints, and instructions which are complete in terms of type of job required, materials, and methods to be used.
Incumbent must be able to use simple hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, hammer, pliers, flashlights, vacuums, etc.
Must also be able to utilize tools for water quality testing and documentation including thermometer, pH tester, and chlorine residuals.
Work Schedule: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm Monday - Friday

Physical Requirements: Incumbent must use, move, carry and set up ladders and work from ladders. Use HEPA Vacuums and other cleaning devices. Frequently lifts objects weighing over 40 pounds and occasionally lifts objects over 50 pounds. Duties include work that requires physical abilities and effort in doing laboring duties that require some training or experience. Performs manual tasks with some degree of skill. Work involves some heavy physical effort as in snow shoveling. Must utilize and maintain Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE).
