The position is located within the Facilities Management Service (FMS) sections of the Eastern Colorado Heath Care System (ECHCS), Aurora, CO under the Facilities Management Service. The primary duties of the incumbent are that of a work leader, performing work which requires physical abilities and effort that involves general skills and knowledge regarding maintenance functions pertaining to Carpentry, Plumbing, Electricity, Painting, and HVAC.
Duties
Duties to include but not limited to:
Working Leader for three or more employees in the accomplishment of trades and labor work.
Assigns and provides instructions to maintenance workers.
Provides information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems ( e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees).
Independently assess and determine the extent of necessary repairs to facilities and buildings. Repair buildings and structures, fittings, partitions, and other wood or wood substitute articles and structures requiring close tolerance fit and structural soundness.
Plans the work and independently determines the materials, tools, and techniques needed for accomplishing painting projects. On a routine basis or in support of special emphasis programs , paints a variety of surfaces utilizing standard coating methods such as brushing, rolling, and spraying.
Ability to lead other employees in the performance of maintenance mechanic work. Knowledge of administrative duties associated with leader responsibilities.
Skills in determining what needs to be done to plan the work, order the necessary supplies, and complete the job. Must have knowledge of a large variety of common building materials in order to require the proper materials or to know whether materials on hand can be used in a given situation.
Insures that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
Work Schedule: 8 hour shift between 4:00 and Midnight, Monday - Friday

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Work is performed at various job sites throughout the facility. The incumbent is required to walk and stand for extended periods of time while operating tools and equipment. The work requires considerable bending, kneeling, and stooping. Strenuous physical exertion is sometimes required when handling heavy and bulky materials. The employee may regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally in excess of 100 pounds.
