The Caregiver Support Program (CSP) is one of the Veterans Health Administration's (VHA) most rapidly growing service areas, as a result of infrastructure modernization, programming innovation, and expansion of population-served by the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) under MISSION Act.

Duties

Major Duties: Coordinates and implement a comprehensive outreach initiative designed to facilitate the delivery of services to caregivers and their Veterans at their respective locations. Serves as the first point of contact and subject matter expert regarding questions about the program, coordination of referrals, building community partnerships, caregiver utilization, data reporting, and any other administrative support tasks required to support the program at the facility level. Locates, organizes, develops and reports on all data for performance measures and reports this data to the care team weekly, and to the Caregiver Support Coordinators in completing required administrative tasks such as quarterly reports which are presented to Leadership or the VISN offices. Assists in the planning, review, and reporting of data/statistical results of program/project studies; performs basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports; coordinates incoming data from a variety of sources, reviews documents and reports for omissions and inconsistencies, and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Performs telephone triage and brief assessment- assists Veterans, families, medical center staff and community agency personnel who are seeking Caregiver Support services. Design and maintain a tracking system for the Caregiver Support Respite Program expenditures and referrals. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Program Support Asst (OA)/PD02409O Physical Requirements: The work environment includes everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of offices, meetings and training rooms. At various times the incumbent is required to walk and be on various medical/surgical and/or psychiatric wards within the medical center. At other times there may be irate or even abusive or highly emotional veterans and their caregivers or family members who may need to be calmed down in order to obtain the proper data and information so that appropriate problem identification may be made. Travel may involve use of private and/or commercial conveyance. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Proficiency Requirements: (Office Automation) In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants for these positions must show possession of the following skills, as appropriate. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. Agencies may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test. GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Knowledge of office administration and systems development in order to prioritize work assigned, track and direct the flow of referrals, provide information to customers in a timely manner, and organize program information for easy accessibility and retrieval. There is no educational substitution for the GS-07 level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
