You will serve as a MATERIALS HANDLER (BLOCKING & BRACING) in the Navy Munitions Command Pacific East Asia Division of NMCPAC EAD UNIT GUAM.
Duties
You will maintain accurate inventory of assets; utilize associated automated information systems; inspect and evaluate work, materials, equipment, written procedures, and references.
You will inspect and approve transportation conveyances as suitable for loading, blocking, and bracing.
You will obtain and maintain inspection and quality certification needed to make quality decisions and recommendations.
You will perform visual examination of ordnance material including ammunition, explosives, chemical, munitions, fuels, missiles, and associated components, and hazardous or inert materials for defects.
You will construct, place, sheathe, and install wooden blocks, wedges, bracing structures, partition bulkheads, deck boxes, and other staying devices.
You will block, brace and secure uncreated, un-containerized equipment which is sensitive, hazardous, or unusually large or heavy, and is unbalanced or fragile.
You will lash vehicle, vessel, or other conveyance laden with explosives, hazardous materials, or any ordnance-related components tot eh appropriate military standards.

- This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
- May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
- You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Education
Additional conditions of employment:
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
This is a bargaining unit position.
Incumbent shall obtain and maintain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO) Certification.
The incumbent must complete all training and certifications required for the position within required OPNAV, NAVSEA, and NAVY REGION instructions, including Ordnance Materials Handler; Explosive Operator Materials Handling Equipment (MHE); and Pneumatic Nailer Operator.
