A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is April-October but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: Spring 2024.

Duties

MAJOR DUTY: Perform maintenance on facilities, campground sites and trails using hand and power, collects trash and assist higher graded maintenance workers or tradesmen in the performance of their work. Operate motor vehicles weighting up to 10,000 pounds (such as pick-up trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, etc.) to transport materials and personnel in a variety of traffic and road conditions. Operates large, complex riding lawn mowers that have multiple or independently controlled cutting decks. Cuts trees and heavy vegetation with axe, chainsaw or powered brush cutters; stacks heavy logs, lumber, and sacks of cement, etc. Receives, unloads and processes incoming shipments according to established procedures. Reports discrepancies and damage to others responsible for such items. Operates a light truck to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites while assisting on project work. Cleans and services chemical toilets, restrooms, and other campground or visitor facilities. Makes minor repairs as needed and refers problems to higher graded workers. Loads and unloads supplies and materials from trucks, trailers, dollies, etc. You will perform laboring duties that require significant manual skill, prior work experience or training, physical effort and operate light duty motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds.
