This position is part of the Office of Science - Headquarters, Department of Energy. As a Supervisory Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), you will be responsible for providing IT guidance, management services, advice, and recommendations to Office of Science personnel whose work required the use of or interface with Office of Science IT systems, as well as activities related to IT system platforms/operations and translating broad concepts and objectives into projects and programs.

- This position does not support 100% remote work. You will be required to report physically to the official reporting worksite as specified by the supervisor, but no less than 2 days per pay period.
- You are required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of entering the position and annually.
- First time supervisors will be required to serve a 1 year probationary period.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing thereafter. Failure to test or a positive result on random drug tests conducted after appointment may result in removal from Federal employment.
- A preliminary background check must be completed before a new employee can begin work. Current Federal employees or other individuals with an existing completed background investigation may not be required to undergo another background check.
- This position has been designated as CRITICAL and requires a security clearance at the "Q" level. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain this clearance; failure to do so may result in separation from federal service.
- This position is not included in a Bargaining Unit.
Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following:
Directing a staff of employees performing professional IT or engineering operations.
Developing or reviewing IT policies/procedures related to computing systems issued internally or by other authoritative agencies.
Coordinating the management of a Microsoft Azure cloud environment and Microsoft Office 365 services.
Managing application development that includes development pipelines, cloud native services, or infrastructure as code utilizing security strategies/approaches based on the Zero Trust Architecture model, Enterprise Architecture framework, Agile framework, and other cybersecurity controls.
Education cannot be substituted for experience at the GS-15 grade level.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
