Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.

Qualifications
Applicants must possess and demonstrate in their application packages that they meet the following minimum qualifications:
To be eligible at the GS-5 level, you must have at least: one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level; or four years of education above the high school level; or a combination of both specialized experience and education as explained below.
Specialized Experience is defined as experience performing various clerical/administrative duties in support of the operation of an office. Examples of specialized experience include: responding to inquiries and providing general information; receiving telephone calls and visitors to the office; organizing and maintaining files and records; producing a variety of written documents utilizing several types of office automation software; entering information into an automated database.
Education: Bachelor's degree or 4 years of education above high school level in any field. If qualifying all or in part based on your education, please submit a copy of your college transcripts OR a list of college courses with credit hours, dates completed, and grades received. If the requested information is not provided, your education may not be appropriately evaluated and you may lose consideration for this position. If your qualifications are based in any part on education and you are selected for this position, you will have to provide an official copy of your academic transcripts prior to entering on duty.
Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, college education must be in excess of 60 semester hours or beyond the second year. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. To be well-qualified, you must satisfy all qualification requirements for the vacant position and receive a score of 85 or better on established ranking criteria.
