The GAO is part of the Legislative Branch of the Federal government. As such, all positions are in the excepted service. This position is located in the Chief Administrative Office, Field Operations, Boston, MA field office. As a Mission Support Assistant, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of clerical and administrative tasks in support of office processes and procedures.
Duties
As aMission Support Assistant, AC-0303-2your typical work assignments may include the following:
Performing office support work, including administrative functions in a multi-tasking environment and in accordance with federal and GAO processes, policies and regulations;
serving as point of contact for general administrative inquiries, requests, or questions and responding orally and in writing;
processing time and attendance documentation, applying appropriate agency and federal policies and regulations;
processing external training requests, including registration, payment, or invoice reconciliation, applying appropriate agency and federal policies and regulations;
working with other mission support staff to troubleshoot problems pertaining to processing time and attendance, processing external training requests, approving travel documentation, and auditing time and attendance records;
auditing and approving travel vouchers, including communicating with employees to resolve issues;
communicating and coordinating with staff members in other agency components, including facilities management, procurement and supply, security and safety, travel, training, budget, and human capital to arrange for services and acquire materials for the field;
training new employees on administrative policies and procedures, such as time and attendance, travel, and external training requests;
processing actions to acquire supplies, travel, training, and mail services to ensure timely and effective service;
preparing a variety of communications and adapting formats to ensure that standard language and templates are correctly used for the specific task;
providing administrative support for internal and external training events;
serving as the back-up to the Security Officer to help ensure proper handling of classified materials and SIPRNet;
working across the organization to service staff in other field and headquarters locations as necessary; and
performing front Office responsibilities including but not limited to: answering phones, setting up conference rooms (involving furniture moves), scheduling video conferences, shredding documents, mail services, greeting customers, maintaining office supply inventory, serving as emergency management POCs such as floor warden, and maintaining the copiers/printers.
Qualifications
Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the AC-I, GS-7 or equivalent level that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must include at least 2 of the following activities: (1) processing purchasing actions for goods and/or services, (2) utilizing web applications to complete travel authorizations, processing travel reimbursement/vouchers, and/or processing training requests, and (3) reviewing time and attendance automated systems.
