About the Position: Serves as Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (Office Automation) over a group of employees performing medical clerk, receptionist, record keeping, files management, office automation, and miscellaneous clerical duties in a large Womack Army Medical Center within a medical clinic.
Duties
Assign work, daily, weekly or monthly to employees, providing special instructions as necessary for new or unusual assignments.
As the Patient Appointment System Master Scheduler, merges individual health care provider (HCP) templates into a Master Schedule system, and schedules daily appointments.
Coordinate with clinic chiefs and the supervisor to prepare, maintain, and update appropriate access codes and appointment menus.
Operate Office Automation equipment (i.e., electronic typewriter, word processor, and personal computer) to prepare a variety of office documents.
Briefs Unit Commanders, soldiers, family members and groups on clinic policies, procedures, and issues.
Hears and attempts to resolve complaints from subordinates.
Requirements

- A favorable National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) may be required for this position.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1). Extracting information for report purposes from a hospital automation system such as Genesis. 2). Resolving complaints of a local administrative nature and refers other complaints to the appropriate authorities. 3). Schedule, monitor and communicate delays in appointments to the appropriate staff and patients. 4). Reconciles end-of-shift/end-of-day processing and reports.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
