About the Position: Incumbent will serve as Army Community Service (ACS) Multi-Functional Specialist at the installation level with professional and technical responsibility for assisting Commanders with assessing, tailoring and prioritizing ACS service delivery in support of local military and Family needs.

Duties

Provides training classes to commanders/first sergeants on preparing military service members, civilian employees, and their family members for deployment Provides direct pre-deployment/mobilization assistance to military service members, family members and civilian employees Supports and assists units and detachment commanders of all components in establishment and training of Soldier Family Readiness Groups (SFRG). Support Soldier Readiness Processing for service members deploying, reviews family care information for completeness and accuracy. Establishes, maintain, manage the Installation Emergency Family Assistance Center Coordinates, conducts pre/post deployment briefings and reintegration trainings.

Basic Requirement for Army Community Service Specialist: Successfully completed a full four year course of study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in behavioral or social science or related discipline. Where specific course requirements are not indicated on the transcripts, the number of semester hours required to constitute a major field of study is the amount specified by the college or university attended. If this number cannot be obtained, 24 semester hours will be considered as equivalent to a major field of study. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates that I have acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Combination of education and experience that provides me with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (The quality of the combination of education and experience is sufficient to demonstrate that I possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field. Note: You must submit a copy of your transcripts). When combining education with experience, first determine your total qualifying education as a percentage of the education required. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours or equivalent) is equivalent to 6 months of experience. Then determine the experience as a percentage of the experience required. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to be qualifying. For example, if an applicant that has 9 months of experience and 15 semester hours of college, it will equate to 75 percent of the required experience and 25 percent of the required education for a total of 100 percent of the requirement for 1 year of experience. In addition to meeting the above basic requirement, you must also meet one of the following: Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service which includes providing direct assistance to military service members, family members and civilian employees, managing a Installation Emergency Family Assistance Center and Providing training to commanders/first sergeants on preparing military service members, civilian employees, and their family members for deployment. OR Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Behavioral Science, Education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least one year of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required two years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Experience as described in A AND the education described in B. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision MakingEducation and TrainingOral CommunicationPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
