This position is located with the Deputy Regional Forester's Office for the Alaska Region in Juneau, Alaska.

Duties
Advise officials of other units or organizations and higher level management officials in all aspects of administrative work and projects assigned.
Prepare letters, memorandums, reports, and other documents for the unit.
Serve as a conduit of information on grants and agreements between multiple internal and external federal agencies.
Identify and make recommendations to resolve conventional problems and other administrative situations on the unit.
Negotiate with other internal organizations and key staff in resolution of issues regarding quality assurance, deliverables, timelines, conflicts, etc.
Maintain contacts with clients to establish and build relationships with potential clients interested in the work of the unit.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.

- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-11: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include one or more of the following: Managed all administrative functions in an office setting; Advised management officials on administrative management functions and the effective utilization of financial, logistical, and workforce resources; Planned, organized, directed, and coordinated office activities; Analyzed and advised on the administrative implications of proposed management decisions; Reviewed and coordinated operating budgets; and/or Assisted in management and administration of contracted resources and the specifications of the agreement/contract they are functioning under.
OR
A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
OR
An appropriate combination of specialized experience and graduate level education (beyond what is required for a master's degree, i.e., more than 36 semester hours leading to a Ph.D.).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
