Duties
Serve as the program authority and strategic advisor to the Regional Forester for the Alaska Tribal Relations Program.
Serves as an advisor and consultant to others throughout the Alaska Region on coordinating, collaborating, and consulting with Tribes
Provides oversight and direction on program; plans, formulates, interprets, and implements policies and procedures to provide mission-impacting recommendations.
Works as a member of a team to collaboratively achieve mutual goals and objectives as part of an integrated approach to address ecosystem management issues, including cultural aspects and sacred places.
Meets with key customers and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policy and procedures, and resolve problems that arise.
Serve on the Alaska Regional Leadership Team and directly support the Tongass and Chugach National Forests Tribal Relations Programs.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-14: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as one or more of the following:
Developing long and short-range plans to include programming, budgeting, integrating, and evaluating complex programs for the agency;
Initiating and leading high priority special projects, studies, and initiatives encompassing difficult and diverse functions or issues that affected critical aspects of major agency programs; OR
Recommending the revision of programs and procedures to facilitate operations in the face of technical or administrative obstacles.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
