The selectee of this position serves as an Information Technology Specialist (Security). You will be responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified and/unclassified systems, networks and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of information systems, security programs, policies, procedures and tools.
Duties
As an Information Technology Specialist (Security) at the GS-2210-13 level, some of your typical work assignments may include:
Analyze and monitor the performance of security features in agency operating system;
Manage agency Information Technology security projects while evaluating systems and programs and making necessary recommendations;
Assess security events to determine the impact and implements corrective actions and/or ensures the rigorous application of information assurance policies, principles and practices in the delivery of all IT services; and
Make recommendations related to the potential and actual impact of additions and changes to the agency systems through programing changes to the agencies systems through programming changes or the application or new software and hardware in the agencies environment.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-2210-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
Basic Requirement: All applicants must meet the following basic requirements.
Experience Requirements: You must have IT-related experience in each of the following four competencies listed below which must be supported by the information contained in your resume and other application materials.
ATTENTION TO DETAIL: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
ORAL COMMUNICATION: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
PROBLEM SOLVING: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement described above, you must have the Specialized Experience described below.
You may qualify at the GS-2210-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which demonstrates: 1.) Developing policies and procedures to ensure the reliability and accessibility of organizational information systems and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks and data; 2.) Conducting risk, secure configuration and vulnerability assessment of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks and protection needs; 3.) Developing systems security contingency plans and disaster recovery procedures; 4.) Preparing and maintaining detailed technical, project planning and management documentation concerning computer security projects and the computer security portions of systems development projects; 5.) Providing technical advice, guidance, and assistance on critical IT security issues. (This experience must be reflected on your resume to meet the requirements of the position.)
