This position is within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service (P&LMS), VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (VAECHCS) in Aurora, Colorado. The primary purpose of this position is to perform inventory management, purchasing, budget support assistance, data collection, and administrative duties.
Duties

Serves as the back-up for processing without compensation (WOC) staff.
Performs credentialing entry as needed for WOCs as well as other staff when required.
Provides a comprehensive range of administrative office functions for the P&LMS Service Chief.
Refers and contacts members of staff, VHA and University contacts ranging from private organizations to the public.
Provides detailed clerical information about the office, its functions, and standard operating procedures.
Serves as a back-up for printing and distributing call schedules.
Assists with copying and filing of documents.
Screens the supervisor and staff member calls and determines if the call requires their attention.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm,

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following:
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-6) in Federal Service, that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of an Administrative Support Assistant, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes distributing mail to the mailboxes daily; ordering and distributing office supplies; files and maintains records; corresponds with vendors on fiscal matters; reviews standard operating procedures in a timely manner; preparing correspondence; scheduling and setting up meetings. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Some work may require walking, bending, and lifting up to twenty pounds and climbing stairs.
Work is primarily performed in a well-lighted, ventilated office environment. There is some exposure to the environmental risks of medical laboratories. Safety and Infectious Disease (Standard Precautions) practices have been established and the incumbent is to follow these scrupulously in order to minimize risk to self and others.
