Duties

This position allows you to use your experience providing clerical support and assistance in applying technical procedures, methods, and techniques in support of the missions and functions of the station. The position uses various systems to support the office including such activities as: arranging meetings and conferences, managing the manager's calendar, collecting and analyzing data, leading meetings on administrative and clerical procedures, personnel/payroll processing, budget, travel, workers' compensation, logistics, answering phones and greeting visitors. This position starts at a salary of $46,696.00 (GS-7, Step 1) to $60,703.00 (GS-7, Step 10) with promotion potential to $60,703.00 (GS-7 Step 10). In this Mission Support Assistant position, you will support of the missions and administrative functions of the station. Typical duties include: Assisting in one or more administrative support areas which include budget, logistics and procurement, human resources, and records and files management Using various software packages such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases Developing, maintaining, and preparing reports and office records Analyzing, evaluating, and improving the efficiency of internal administrative processes, workflow, and reporting/tracking systems - Interacting with employees at all levels, working with on-site and inter-office personnel employees on basic staffing

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-7 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Coordinating administrative requirements with offices served Maintaining contact with offices having primary responsibility for administrative programs and obtaining the most up-to-date information on procedural requirements Assisting with routine administrative matters; maintaining databases Identifying trends or patterns, and compiling narrative/data reports NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 12/06/2023. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
