Incumbent serves as Program Support Assistant for Infection Control Program (ICP) that covers all facilities within the VACHS to include San Juan Medical Center, Community Living Center, satellite clinics of Mayaguez and Ponce, CBO Clinics and Rural Clinics. Provides administrative and clerical support to the ICP and Chairperson Infection Control Committee; coordinates all agenda items for the Infection Control Committee and provides reports to the Clinical Executive Council.
Duties
Coordinates meetings to review Infection Control Policies, serve as consultant regarding IC issues, prepares and communicates IC policies/memorandums/SOP's to comply with VACO and regulatory agencies. Responsible of service policy tracking and coordination.
Is responsible for interpreting and applying VA regulations and infection control standards to provide full range of medical and administrative support to them to improve and ensure quality infection control outcomes.
Interprets applicable guides, guidelines, operating policies, etc. pertaining to the work of the office.
Supports the Infection Control Coordinator, IC staff and facility wide services on corrections or findings cited by regulatory agency surveys.
The incumbent independently responds to requests for administrative reports, audits and surveys from VA and non-VA sources, medical and administrative records to obtain necessary information; composes reply with appropriate documentation; releases medical information according to privacy act, FOIA and VA regulations.
Prepares a variety of narrative and statistical material, correspondence, letters, memorandum, reports, labels, etc., in final form for the supervisor's signature.
Supports the Infection Control Coordinator (ICC) in the preparation of the IC annual assessment, consolidating and organizing statistical data.
Maintains time and attendance records for the ICP staff and serves as alternate for Chief of Staff service.
The Infection Control Committee reports to the Clinical Executive Council (CEC) and incumbent prepares all reporting form for discussion of the Chairperson Infection Control Committee to CEC members.
Supports the Thera Doc surveillance software manager in preparing procurement package, license renewal, and serve as COR of the service.
Incumbent attends all committees concerning the ICP as a technical administrative advisor. This includes, but not limits to: Infection Control Committee, Tuberculosis Exposure Sub committee, Bloodbome Pathogens Sub-committee, infection control staff meetings, etc.
Plans and coordinates a variety of general office support services in such as requisition of office supplies, storage land maintenance of stock levels. Responsible to submit work orders for installation, repair, maintenance and disposal of equipment, etc.
Maintains the education tracking responsibility for the mandatory infection control training (TMS administrator).
Incumbent is responsible to ensure accurate data, such as; Central Line Associated blood stream infections, Catheter associated urinary tract infections, Ventilator associated events, and other as necessary, is transferred and is reflected correctly in VHA Inpatient Evaluation Center (IPEC) for the VISN 8 medical center assigned.
Incumbent is the ICP ADPAC responsible to provide assistance for the staff on all computer applications and programs, and preparing ICC minutes.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/06/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. General Adjustment SF-50's with the effective date of within the last year do not provide the information to reflect time-in-grade requirement has been met and therefore cannot be the only SF-50. If you are currently serving in a Hybrid Title 38 position, your SF-50's must reflect you have been in the position longer than one year.

Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: ADPAC responsible to provide assistance for the staff on all computer applications and programs, and preparing committee minutes.
