Duties
Serve as the Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO) as the strategic advisor in the development, implementation, and evaluation of health informatics to support medical practices.
Support the deployment, sustainment and optimization of the systems with the Chief Information Officer (CIO).
Assist the leadership with Health Informatics Programs by managing and being responsible for all Health Informatics related activities.
Establish an effective process to elevate Health Informatics related issues to Headquarters when unable to adequately address the issue.
Develop quality improvement initiatives in the area of health informatics.
Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing complex reviews or analysis of the health informatics systems, deploying or sustaining of health informatics systems, and making recommendations or changes to policies or procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
