About the Position: The incumbent serves as the command's expert in global force management (GFM) working semi-independently and in coordination with the USARNORTH force management action officers to accomplish a broad range of global force management duties, located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Provides facts, conclusions, decisions, and recommendations for overall plans and proposals for GFM-related projects based upon analyses conducted. Through formal and informal meetings, briefings, and/or reports presents recommendations to persuade management officials to accept and implement actions often involving cross-directorate resources. Analyze strategic plans and operating data to formulate plans which determine and/or identify present and future program(s) needs. Develop an overall risk assessment to execute operations, activities, and plans in the USARNORTH AOR. Makes decisions on work problems and plans work to be accomplished by subordinates by establishing short-, mid- and long-range priorities with consideration of difficulty and requirements of each assignment. Serves an expert in joint deployment operations planning, providing overall recommendations dealing with contingency planning, crisis action planning, and adaptive planning dealing with JOPES policies, procedures, products, and planning formulation.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

  • This position is designated as a key and mission essential position.
  • This position may require temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 25% away from duty station.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours. Incumbent may be required to temporarily work extended and irregular tours of duty to include days, nights, shifts, and weekends.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work overtime. Overtime may be required on short notice.
  • Incumbent may be required to continue or complete formal and informal training and knowledge of publications and systems, and other professional development courses.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialize experience: one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes directing staff actions and projects on force management and force-planning constructs to support the Department's strategic direction; Providing oversite generated to support rotational and emerging force requirements.
