This position is in the Division of Information Technology (DIT), Office of the General Manager (OGM), Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board, and located in Washington, DC. The Division of Information Technology is responsible for overseeing the information technology functions that support the mission of the DNFSB. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Q level (Top Secret) security clearance to perform duties.

Duties

Incumbent assists in administering DNFSB information system security program. Monitors all DNFSB information systems to ensure system integrity and assess and mitigate vulnerabilities. Tests information systems to ensure control requirements are met. Assesses events to determine if events are a threat, assess risks, and recommends mitigation.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. For all 2210 positions, individuals must demonstrate they have experience in each of the four competencies listed below: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendation. -AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade - Specialized Experience: GS-12 Specialized Experience:  One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 or higher-grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience includes: Implementing security programs designed to anticipate, assess, and minimize system vulnerabilities; Maintaining server infrastructure to ensure continuous agency operations; Preparing briefings to management officials on routine issues; and Making decisions or recommendations that significantly influence important agency IT policies or programs. GS-13 Specialized Experience:  One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 or higher-grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience includes: Implementing security programs designed to anticipate, assess, and minimize system vulnerabilities; Maintaining server infrastructure to ensure continuous agency operations; Preparing briefings to senior management officials on complex/controversial issues; and Making decisions or recommendations that significantly influence important agency IT policies or programs Time-in-Grade Requirements: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. One year at the GS-12 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level.  (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade.
