You will serve as an ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the ENVIRONMENTAL BUSINESS LINE, EV COMPLIANCE & SERVICES DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG SYSTEMS COMMAND PAC. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 9.28% will be added to the stated salary.

Duties

You will conduct environmental inspection and acceptance of work based on compliance with contract provisions, codes, and regulations. You will coordinate environmental protection projects (e.g., pollution prevention, spill response, hazardous waste) to recommend and initiate corrective actions for compliance. You will recommend best method for waste treatment, recycle or reuse, minimization, neutralization, or disposal. You will advise employees on environmental regulations (e.g., policies, procedures, directives of management) to maintain a smooth running organization. You will generate reports, proposals, standards, policies, and operating guidance in support of environmental test operations.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing, updating and implementing environmental protection plans and programs; 2) Ensuring compliance with Federal, State and DoD environmental regulations to evaluate compliance, recommend changes and control measures; 3) Preparing and conducting briefings or training programs, and lead group conferences; and 4) Coordinating and executing an Inspection Program for environmental compliance program management. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, or driving an automobile. Visits to project sites may include accessing and inspecting industrial areas and piers. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in an office environment. Inspection work or spill response is done at the work site. There may be occasional exposure to industrial and environmental hazards. Personal protective equipment may be required. Respirator qualifications may also be required.
