You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the PRODUCTION DIVISION, UTILITIES AND ENERGY MANAGEMENT of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
Duties
You will perform all required steps to complete dig safe requests.
You will serve as local geographic information system (GIS) provider and coordinator for the branch.
You will plan, analyze and coordinate all planned utility outages along with providing technical support to utility operations.
You will initiate field visits to retrieve meter readings from steam, condensate, water, sewage and electrical distribution/collection systems.
Requirements

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications
GS-09 Specialized Experience:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing all steps associated with the Dig Safe Program to include accepting requests, reviewing equipment/areas and marking/staking dig areas; 2) Analyzing and coordinating planned utility outages; 3) Interpreting blueprints, plans, line diagrams and sketches for utility systems (e.g., water, steam, sewer and electric); and 4) Utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to plan work on utility systems.
GS-08 Specialized Experience:Minimum Qualifications for Position (Specialized Experience Statement): Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-07 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Reviewing blueprints to determine required marking/staking of areas to be excavated in support of the Dig Safe Program; 2) Utilizing electromagnetic induction detection equipment to detect current flow; 3) Utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to plan work on utility systems; and 4) Meeting with contractors on site to provide technical support, review system drawings, and determine condition of utilities.
