About the Position: Serve as a subject matter expert while performing cost and/or economic analyses for difficult to define, controversial, new or novel systems or services provided by installations world-wide. Sometimes precedents are lacking. Provides ideas and alternative measures to improve financial and operational performance measures and metrics for Army programs performed at installations.
Duties
Serve as an Operations Research Analyst conducting studies and other major analytical efforts to generates ideas for new programs, policies, studies and approaches focused on Base Operations requirements generation systems and models.
Evaluate impacts of new technologies, delivery methods, or structures on current systems and policies.
Coordinate study plans and establishes priorities.
Select equations or algorithms relevant to real world environments.
Provide guidance to lower-level analysts.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance.
- This position may require temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 5% of this position's time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Basic Requirement
Have successfully completed all of the requirements for a Operations Research Analyst. The basic requirements include a Degree in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above applicants must also meet the specialized experience below: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience at the GS-13 which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized experience: Analyzing complex data sets in order to present recommendations to Senior Leadership; and advising senior managers on advantages and/or disadvantages of different mathematical approaches to analyzing organizational problem sets.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
Education
