You will serve as a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the MAINTENANCE BRANCH, of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.
Duties
You will consult technical documents and manuals (e.g., manufacturer's manuals, technical publications) to verify heavy mobile equipment maintenance and repairs are completed correctly.
You will determine repairs, adjustments, and modifications needed for heavy mobile equipment.
You will maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, and modify a variety of heavy duty vehicles and mobile equipment designed for purposes such as construction, combat, earth moving, firefighting, and comparable industrial or special applications.
Requirements
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Frequently lifts and carries items unassisted weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Employee shall furnish his own hand tools and tool box to securely lock and retain tools.
- This position requires the employee to possess and maintain the applicable licenses, certifications or authorizations to operate assigned equipment and accomplish assigned duties.
- Works on top of, under, and in tight compartments, performing strenuous work while in cramped or awkward positions. Frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing and crouching.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license. This position requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Employee shall furnish his own hand tools (socket sets, screwdrivers, chisels, pliers, punches, hammers, grips, wrenches, etc.) with tool box to securely lock and retain the above tools.
- This position requires the employee to possess and maintain the applicable licenses, certifications or authorizations to operate assigned equipment and accomplish assigned duties.
- Works requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing and crouching; lifting and carrying items unassisted weighing up to 50 pounds; and working on top of, under, and in tight compartments.
