About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ST-IC-W3U2AA US ARMY FUTURES AND CONCEPTS CENTER. Maintain servers and operations workflow for operations of Microsoft, Cisco, and VMware based information technology infrastructure, including Windows servers.
Duties
Develop approaches and procedures in the specialty area(s); provide advice and guidance on a wide range and variety of complex IT issues; interpret IT policies, standards and guidelines.
Conduct analyses and recommend resolution of complex issues affecting the specialty area(s).
As Systems Administrator, manage all aspects for the Battle Lab Collaborative Support Environment (BLCSE) architecture and operations within the Intelligence Battle Lab (IBL) enclaves and in support of the IBL mission.
Design and implement Intelligence/Experimentation architecture involving multiple Intelligence, Modeling, and Simulations systems which produce various message types that must be communicated between systems.
Assist in developing the strategy for Microsoft Windows OS and Data backup system and system integration with other collaborative tools within the organization.
Develop highly innovative and powerful virtualized software development environments using the latest technologies. Administer and manage systems, data backup systems and Microsoft OS images on platforms and deployment packages.
Evaluate user requirements and translates requirements into mission support for the IBL. Oversee and manage the full life-cycle software and hardware system to support the IBL enclaves.
Provide conceptual analysis, requirements analysis, design, implementation, deployment, documentation and maintenance of various applications and support tools.
Install, configure and support Windows OS images and deployments, mission unique software, COTS software, hardware drivers and firmware. Create and deploy security packages, apply updates and changes via scripts or other available tools.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain SEC+ certification. If you currently do not possess SEC+ certification, you will be required to obtain the certification within 90 days of entrance on duty. Re-certification will be required as needed.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
To qualify, applicants must have one year or more of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level. Specialized Experience is defined as one year or more of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area and of the methods and techniques of the position as demonstrated by experience applying principles and methods for integrating information system components to install and maintain software and hardware, control current versions and future releases of applications software, and document the physical configuration of an information system; using performance tuning tools and techniques to optimize the functionality of networks and systems; and, employing or utilizing systems diagnostic tools and fault identification techniques to diagnose and recover failed systems. All of the above specialized experience must have been performed within classified and un-classified systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11).
Specialized experience includes, or was supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
