About the Position: Serves as the Engineer Technician with responsibility for planning, programming coordinating, and monitoring all maintenance, modification, rehabilitation, improvement, and minor construction projects/contracts for Directorate of Public Works facilities.
Duties
Compares and analyzes man-hours and materials actually expended against estimates to determine cost variances and accuracy of estimates.
Makes frequent on-site engineering-oriented inspections of facilities and grounds to determine current and future repair and replacement needs.
Prepares working sketches and detailed descriptions of work to be performed by the engineering division or by a contractor.
Formulates preliminary specifications, requirements, cost estimates and other technical aspects for projects pertaining to extension, alteration, repair and maintenance.
Communicate effectively face-to-face, via phone, and/or email to internal and external customers.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid state drivers license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (T3- Non-Critical Sensitive Investigation) to have access to classified information and attend classified meetings.
- Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450,(5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I Confidential Financial Disclosure Reports) upon entering the position and annually.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) developing planning estimates on requests submitted for repair projects; (2) preparing packages for work orders submitted on repair, construction, sustainment, and/or modernization work; and (3) utilizing estimating software to input information needed for work order requests submitted. This definition of specilaized expereince is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal Service (GS-09).
